Meet Our Client: The Berkshire Clinic

The Berkshire Clinic is a new private medical clinic located on Wharfedale Road within the Winnersh Triangle business area, close to Reading, conveniently positioned next to Winnersh Triangle railway station.

The clinic has been founded by four local cardiology consultants, all of whom are well established in local private and NHS practices. As this is their first clinic, the founders contacted Oaktree Interiors in September 2021, requiring assistance with the initial plans and designs for a conversion of a former ground floor office building into a new medical facility. They got into contact with us based on a recommendation from one of our business partners and our track record of working on similar projects over recent years.

Our Client's Requirement

Due to the building being previously occupied as an office, initial plans and designs were needed to help assist our client in securing a change of use, as well as obtaining a licence from the building’s landlord to alter the interior.

The project brief was to provide four spacious consulting rooms around the perimeter of the space – some would utilise the bright frontage with its large, full-height windows, while others were located centrally, away from the windows for added privacy.

Additional rooms were required for storage and a staff break out area. The central area was to be used as a welcoming and calm waiting area, with soft seating and a TV. The entrance was also redesigned to create a new welcoming reception area.

What Oaktree Delivered

Commencing in early 2022, the initial phase of this clinic fit-out project was to strip out the existing partitions, flooring, ceiling and dated lighting fixtures.

New partitions were built to form the various rooms, each with contemporary solid wood doors, with additional matching wood features installed around the waiting room to complement the design. New flooring was laid throughout, with various types of vinyls used to define the areas within the reception and the waiting space; offering design features and adding practicality to the space.

Easy-to-clean vinyl and carpet flooring were used within the different consultation rooms.

Modifications and upgrades were also made to the air conditioning and ventilation system, while new LED and feature lighting were installed throughout. High and low-level storage was installed within each consultation room and the kitchen area, while a contrasting bulkhead ceiling detail was formed to define the reception area.

A full refurbishment of the toilet facility was undertaken and new furniture was provided by our furniture team, with consideration given to making the central space as flexible as possible.

Finally, new signage and window graphics were installed, resulting in a new modern, clean and bright facility to welcome their clients when the clinic opened in May 2022.

“After meeting with several design and build companies, we chose Oaktree Interiors to design and fit out our private medical clinic. We have been delighted with this decision. Working with Oaktree Interiors has been an absolute pleasure. They have taken us from the design stage through to the completed clinic with absolute professionalism and efficiency. We have had no nasty surprises or unexpected bills. The clinic has been completed to the highest standard, with everything delivered on time. The inevitable small jobs that needed doing once the work had been completed were all attended to promptly without any fuss. We would most definitely use Oaktree Interiors again for future projects.”
