The Oaktree retail 'POD' has been identified as a leader in product innovation. The idea behind the 'POD' was to provide Travelex with some temporary facilities whilst we were refurbishing existing units and to also provide them with the opportunity to test new sites for foot-fall etc prior to committing to major expense with a full build.
The 'POD' was signed to be suitable for all locations and has a National Type Approval Certificate and conforms to Building Regulations and H&S stipulations. This enables the POD to be delivered and installed within 4-5 hours. Once the 'POD' is plugged-in to services for electrical and data for lighting and PC's, tills or EPOS systems, it is live and ready for trade. As the patent holders for the POD, we can fully customise the retail unit to the client's individual requirements. Colour, size and appearance can be modified and literally 'made to measure.' Most of the UK's Airports and Seaports have Currency Exchange PODS in their departures and arrivals lounges and in fact we have even exported the PODs as far afield as Australia, where they are currently trading in major high street travel agencies throughout Melbourne and Sydney. The conclusion of our third development stage enabled us to deploy the PODs for travel money outlets throughout the UK's major high street supermarket stores and travel operators such as Tesco, Asda, Sainsburys and Thomas Cook as well as the return of the newspaper and confectionary kiosk for WH Smiths. Travelex and International Currency Exchange have continued to use them throughout the UK's main airports as foreign exchange bureaus.
