First opened in Windsor in August 2019, A Hoppy Place is a family-run craft beer establishment selling locally sourced craft beers from the home counties. The owners, Dave and Naomi are on a mission to bring more independently owned beers, wines and spirits to UK bars. Their Windsor establishment is twice SWM CAMRA Pub of the Year and in 2021 it also won the SIBA Craft Beer Retailer of the Year award for a single outlet.
Dave and Naomi approached us early this year after securing a ground floor retail unit as part of a new development in Maidenhead, after meeting with one of our project managers at the Bracknell Beer Festival. They were swayed by our previous bar and brewery fit outs that we have completed over recent years.
Dave and Naomi wanted the new Hoppy Place to have a semi-industrial look and feel, as well as to replicate the look and feel of their Windsor establishment. Therefore, we worked closely with Naomi on the design elements, using hertalents as a designer to achieve the desired finish.
As a 'shell and core' space, there was no need for a strip out of existing infrastructure which allowed for the fit out to commence from day one. In the initial stages, we were tasked with relocating the incoming power and distribution boards in order to allow for a full installation of power and lighting.
The exposed ceiling with the hanging light features was carefully constructed to contribute to the overall character, and the exposed bricks were painted to fit with the final colour scheme. The central bar was constructed on-site by our skilled team of trades people.
Dave and Naomi had obtained some reclaimed railway sleeper benches from Lovibonds Brewery Taproom, a location they used to frequent as customers and had a strong attachment to. We sourced additional furnishings to compliment these. The wood effect floor, wooden bar and tabletops are complimented by an array of greenery and foliage.
We erected storage space under the bar tops to compliment the galvanised mesh gas cylinder cage used as storage for the bar area. We also constructed alcoves in the walls to house individual seating booths next to the main bar area.
The project was completed over 8 weeks, with the new Hoppy Place bar opening in July 2022. The initial customer feedback was extremely positive, and we are confident that Dave and Naomi will achieve a lot in their new Maidenhead second home.
As part of a new development located in Trinity Place on Park Street in Maidenhead, the new site was handed to us in a 'shell and core' condition, giving us a completely blank canvas to work with.
Their requirements included a central bar area, which would be the focal point upon entering the space; a room to accommodate a cellar, on the same floor level as the bar; a product retail amenity comprising of glass-front fridges to display the products; customer toilet facilities, including a disabled toilet; and ample customer seating spaces.
We were appointed to undertake the full electrical fit out as well as fresh air and ventilation installation. The floor height also needed to be increased to allow for step-free access.
"Oaktree understood our brief and executed on this with a very high standard of finish. I must in particular praise their tradesman Audrius who built our bar and worked around Naomi and my own trader Matt's evolving needs through the build. Audrius' attention to detail is second to none and anyone would be privileged to have him and the wider team work on their project.I have already recommended Oaktree to other firms and will certainly do so again."
