We are pleased to confirm that we have been appointed to undertake a new office design and build project for Newbury News at their new location based on Faraday Road. Taking place throughout 4,639sqft of space, this new office design in Newbury will help to cater for the requirements of the existing team and business, as well as laying the foundations for future growth and potential success.
The Newbury Weekly News is a family-owned newspaper that has been the heart of the local community within West Berkshire and North Hampshire since 1867. As one of the most successful and innovative independent publishers in the country they are passionate about publishing, as they strive to produce high-quality newspapers that their readers love. Their publication provides a compelling package of local news, sport, entertainment, recruitment, classifieds, property and motor pages. With the average reading time being 40 minutes, the depth and quality of content speaks for itself.
Our communications with Newbury News actually goes back a number of years with our dedicated Business Development Team staying in periodic contact. By establishing regular communications and building a rapport we understood that the company was looking to relocate to an alternative premises on Faraday Road. The main reason for the relocation was due to the company having excess and unused space at their current home which could not be utilised to serve them better. Instead, they were seeking for a new, better-defined space that would provide the ‘wow factor’ for their staff, helping them to be better catered for at work, which of course helps with future retention.
Once we were aware of the client expectations from what they wanted to achieve from their new office design in Newbury, our Design & Contracts team got to work, surveying the new building and designing a completely new fit out. Our solution provides an office layout that not only utilises their new space more effectively but is also one that provides a fresh new look and a positive impact for the staff – boosting morale.
The new open office layout includes a brand-new reception and waiting area, a meeting room, a tea point and a kitchen/break out area for staff. Also included are private offices, a library/archive area for newspapers, with a reference bench area. We also improved the existing WC/shower room facilities and provided an outside break out-style space for staff to relax and refocus without the pressures provided by the work arena inside.
Being that we are extremely excited to get underway with the works, this project has a timeframe duration of approximately 6-8 weeks for practical completion.
