Canterbury Travel got in touch with Oaktree Interiors in February 2015. The company needed to completely re-imagine their existing office space to more closely match their evolving business identity. A site survey was carried out in March, as the company's director was keen to find a more efficient way to utilise the space that they currently occupied and completely update the decor with an effective office refurbishment.
Canterbury Travel is a family-owned business that, for the last 35 years, has been trading from its original offices in Northwood. They are the UK's leading operators for holidays to Lapland. The company's offices occupy two connected high-street fronted retail outlets, but are instead used entirely as an office space.
As soon as we saw that location, we were excited to start designing our proposal for the office refurbishment to more effectively reflect the needs of the business.
Our team quickly provided Canterbury Travel with a proposal that included the knocking-through of the dividing wall in order to effectively connect the two spaces at the rear of the building. We were immediately dedicated to providing better facilities for the staff, including a new break-out area, kitchen and shower facilities.
As well as providing a design to make the available space more enjoyable and practical for the employees, we were also focused on the reconfiguration of the reservations department. Our new design allowed for better communication and interaction between staff, and we even created a completely new manager's office, meeting room and a stylish display area. Our design scheme also included new carpets throughout, a new ceiling, completely new furniture and effective storage. We also upgraded the lighting through the workplace, making it a much brighter and enjoyable space to be in.
The presentation that we provided included dynamic space plans and 3D designs, allowing the client to visualise our proposal throughout the design process. With the company's brand identity and purpose in mind, we took care to theme our suggested decor around Lapland, and refurbished a feature fireplace to add style and character to the staff break-out area.
The first stage of our project commenced in June, giving the reservations team the opportunity to temporarily relocate into what will become the meeting room. We are undertaking this project in a manner which will allow the company to remain operational throughout the project itself. The second phase of our efforts will commence in Late June, with a completion in July.
