An office refurbishment in Berkshire, located on Floor 4, Forbury Works in Reading, the project will involve the creation of a brand new office environment that has been designed to inspire staff, implement new technology as well as cater for future expansion.
We were given this exciting project after presenting our design plan that was clear in its aims, well researched and contained every aspect that Robert Half wanted including in their bespoke office design. Based in more than 400 locations worldwide, Robert Half International is a global staffing firm that provides skilled professionals in fields such as accounting and finance, technology, legal, creative, marketing and administration. Founded in 1948, Robert Half was an early pioneer of professional staffing services, providing the industries of the day with staff on a temporary or permanent basis.

The Operations Manager at Robert Half explained that the company were seeking an environment that combined an updated interpretation of the company's branding, yet not being a complete departure from what was provided by other UK-based offices. Having taken Robert Half's detailed brief, we created an extensive layout and design plan that made excellent use of the building's limited floor plate, even adding elements that were sympathetic to this newly refurbished and much sought-after building. Some of these elements included a curved wall that was offset from the core offered by the building, exposed services and a concrete effect floor.
The key to realising Robert Half's design was its two distinct elements – firstly, a client facing area with interview rooms and high-level meeting and presentation spaces that included slab-to-slab partitioning that eliminates travelling noise. Secondly came the need for an open plan office for 26 staff that provides 'a home from home' for local and international employees, using touchdown benches and soft meeting spaces to flex with the demands of the business. Other aspects of this area include the introduction of joinery, such as a curved seating area and walnut edged ceiling rafts that place emphasis on the quality and integrity of the company's brand. This professional outlook is completed by the open plan design and a breakout area, which has been designed for staff to relax and have informal meetings.
